Our story
Founded in 1957 out of a passion for the perfect fit.
Grown into a leading producer of fashionable, comfortable and semi-orthopaedic footwear.
Piedro was established in 1957 by Mr W. Struijs Sr., who began producing well-fitting shoes for people with foot problems. At that time, there were no shoes available for people with mild foot complaints — those affected were often prescribed fully orthopaedic shoes, which were considered anything but fashionable. Although the name Piedro sounds French, it is in fact a truly Dutch brand. The name combines “pied” (French for “foot”) and “Ro” — the first two letters of Rotterdam, where it all began. Before long, Piedro had expanded into a beautiful, wide-ranging collection of shoes for women, men and children, produced not only in different lengths but also in various widths. Piedro was the first shoe manufacturer to create children’s shoes in five width fittings, complete with a removable footbed.
